Pocket Knife Introduction

Why Carry a Pocket Knife or Folding Knife?

Everyone needs a good knife! Everyday, there are packages to open, string to cut, pencils to sharpen, boxes to cut, and a wide assortment of other tasks that require a good knife. Many occupations require a knife as part of the essential job equipment.  Fixed-blade knives are great and are actually better for most knife-related work, but many businesses and towns tend to discourage carry of a fixed-blade. Pocket knives are the obvious answer! Folding knives are the handiest knives around because they can always sit inconspicuously in a pocket without drawing unneccessary attention. Not to mention, pocket knives are just cool and fun! There are so many variations, blade types, handle materials, and designs that there is something for every taste and interest (and multitudes for those of us who are fascinated with knives). Whether in the city or country, everyone should carry a pocket knife in or clipped to their pocket.

What is the best folding knife?

Good folders can range from a tiny Case Peanut to a huge tactical Strider and everything in between. Any size or style pocket knife can be a suitable choice, depending on its intended useage. All the folders and companies listed here are ones that I recommend (or don’t recommend as the case may be). These are tops among the best folding knife companies.

UPDATE (4/23/2013):  This post is now incorrect.  Well, so much for the TSA doing the right thing.  They have decided that for right now, knives will not be allowed on planes on April 25, 2013 after all.  Hopefully, they will come to their senses reasonably soon!   Since its inception, the Transportation Security Agency has …
